State Level Choral Speaking Competition 2009
I thought of a way to start this post way back at the State Library.

"It's not fair. We tried so hard but it's always the same."

Well, it's no longer needed because we won. Yes we are the best of freaking Sarawak. We beat Chung Hua Miri's asses and we are officially INCREDIBLE.

I never thought we would get this far. We haven't won for 9 freaking long years. I always underestimated our team, didn't think we could measure up to the seniors, didn't think we could get far(i.e. CTS), we overestimated St Jo and Chung Hua, but now we really really know that we are really good. In my face aha.

My parents are the biggest critics ever but they said as soon as we opened our mouths they were blown away. the audience was enraptured. We were friendly, and for some reason our voices were very strong, loud and clear. Passionate. We got lotsa cheers!

I kept crying at first as Jaff, me, Emylia and Marcellia were all predicting our doom with words like "we tried" and Miss S was telling us to cross our fingers. Not a good sign as usually she would tell us we rocked. We got 1st, Sibu 2nd and Samarahan 3rd.

On a totally random note, my vainness was proven in Music Room. Everyone's mouth gaped as I camwhored without shame.

Candid Jess, Therese, Shelly

Nerine faced a certain plumbing freak accident which she forbade me to mention in detail in my blog.

I did my hair myself, and I looked cuter(Haha). St Jo Primary sat behind us. Below is an excerpt of our conversation:(we initially thought these boys were cute)

Solemn-Bookworm(points at his friend): He is a playboy.
Me: Haha. Kids nowadays! Cute!
Other guy: What's a playboy?
Me and Jaff: They are only kids! How they know this!
Solemn-Bookworm: Shaddap u prostitutes. You are perverts. (calls Jaff a tomboy and Emylia fat)
Us: Rude la these people.
Other guy: I still don't know what's a playboy.

But when St Jo lost, we cried along with them too.

The other teams were weird. There were teams which started with how school was boring then started mimicking dolphin sounds, and then lion sounds, etc , then another group started to harp on about Sweeney Todd and haircuts.

A certain group from the town of the natural gas dared to plagiarise our last year script. Lip Yi them damn pissed off. Fuck off la these people not one original bone in their bodies. Haha but oh bless the thing called karma. Judges sarcastically asked them to check their facts. As of this year the Petronas Twin Towers aren't really tallest anymore. That's what you get for thick-faced copying.

Everyone hugged and made up. We love each other again. Tomorrow we're designing shirts and soon we'll have a celebration. We leave for Melaka on 19th July for the nationals.

Kudos to
  • Chong Lip Yi, Marilyn Voon, Amanda Voon and Dae Iman for being there for us juniors and being proud of us!
  • Miss Susie, Madam E, Mr Teo and Pn Yii Ling for EVERYTHING.
  • Bless the bus driver.
  • Bless the toilet janitor for fixing not-to-be-mentioned pipe problem.
We have girl power! Too touched.
