I Feel Sorry For The Future Generation
Okay, now that I'm in blogging mood, I really have to tell the whole world how the Malaysian government is making a huge mistake, ONCE AGAIN. It's not the first time. WHy is it that Malaysia will never move forward? Because we insist on holding on to what is called "national identity" (which is a fatload of bullshit).

Can't they realize that they are destroying the futures of the generations to come? What is the purpose of education? To equip the youth with the ability to give back to the world. Is changing the teaching of Science and Mathematics into Malay again really serving the purpose of education? No, it is simply because some bigshots up there on the corporate ladder don't understand English themselves and decide everyone shouldn't too.

These people say that Science and Math in English causes the rural kids to fall back in development because they don't get English well. Is that reason to cause the city kids to fall back in development as well? So thse rural kids can catch up? It's a gross generalisation because not ALL rural kids suck so bad. And even if they can catch better in BM, and move up, and then the city kids who are better versed in English, suffer, that's ok?

Obviously our education system here sucks. My brother is used to Science and Math in English. Doing this to him will just crush his future. He wants to be a scientist. But if he graduates with honors in Science, who will look up to him? His freaking education is based in BM for God's sake. BM is a cute language, sure, a quaint language special and unique to Malaysia.

Does the government think that by forcing everyone to learn BM, it will make BM the global language or something? No, it's just like flypaper, it traps us and it won't let us out. We Malaysians will be ridiculed.

Let me quote Dr M here: Sayang bahasa tetapi mesti lebih sayangkan bangsa.

I'm sure the teachers feel the same way. They want to wreck our futures. Why does the government make decisions which are against the people's wishes all the time? Are we going to do something about it?

We certainly ain't protesting because we Malaysians are renowned for having no balls.

So let's sit back and watch the little kids now grow up in a meddle of confused terms, and waddle in despair as they finish their education using English words which have been converted into BM(in the vain hope that someday BM will achieve global domination), and then seek job opportunities and are just turned down because they have wasted years cramming in an unintelligible plagiarising(yes,i.e. nasional, oksigen) language and are unable to contribute to the world because they literally aren't even speaking the same language?

Let me ask you. Dr M mentioned this point. The world speaks in English. Science and Math are purely English subjects. Why are we trying to fight that? To recover out lost language's dignity and compromise our children's futures in the process? Science and Math terms come from Latin and have been in use forever. All courses, research, books, materials, terms come from Latin or English words.

If the government doesn't think the rural kids can catch up in English in secondary school, what makes them think that these kids can catch up with the WORLD when they walk out with what I can only say is an empty, pointless degree?

If the results this year aren't as brilliant as last year's, what does the government do? Do they offer more challenging coursework and a stricter syllabus to improve students?

NO.

They instead lower the standard to provide a false front that every year we get the same good results, while the education standard spirals down into the depths of despair. Is that really serving the point of education? Instead of pushing them to be better, we lower standards to make them FEEL better?

And don't even let me get started with the bullshit on how teachers aren't competent in English and how if the teachers themselves not good in English how can the students be right?

Yea, say that to the Western countries where teachers are competent in English. They have the same brains and build, surely we can do the same. Right? Just have to start from the roots of the problem.

See the African countries who at least TRY to implement their students for a better grasp in English. At least try la. We freaking pay these teachers to improve students. They not good in English, so dumb down everything so that students also conform to fit these teachers' standards?!

Why don't we just tighten the standards for a graduate to be a teacher?

Oops, government say we can't because afterward we not enough teachers. Yarlo, quantity over quality right. More low-standard teachers better than not enough high-standard teachers.

We are freaking MORE destroying these kids' futures. Now they catch up more, but in the eye of the world Malaysia education no standard already. I feel so pissed.

Let's just say la we use some obscure language to teach our subjects, let's take some Dayak tongue (no offence), people will laugh at us. "What are they doing? They teach such important subjects in that language, how to advance with the world?"

We are doing the same.

Defend the bangsa my foot. Defend bangsa can earn money feed your stomach ar?

Education is for pushing us to be better, better, better. Think about it. We aren't helping anyone. We are just making ourselves totally ridiculous.

If in the end all Malaysians are good at Malay and we are still keeping our language alive and all, but we are bottom in the world in advancement of Science and Math and our people live in poverty and our economy backfires, is it really worth it?

Think for the kids I deplore you.

Their future is at stake.
